ALMORA: After growing anger and protests over the condition of the Kwarab road, Union Minister of State and MP Ajay Tamta has issued a strong statement.

He said that the essential treatment of the road and diversion work for smooth traffic had already been initiated with the efforts of the central government. The work was scheduled to be completed by September 15, but due to opposition politics by the MLA and Congress workers, the work had to be stopped. As a result, the project has now been delayed by four months, for which, he claimed, the MLA is responsible and must answer to the public.
In a letter, Tamta further stated that during his visits to Almora, he has consistently inspected the site and held discussions with many local residents. Based on public suggestions, he, along with the District Magistrate of Almora, NH authorities, and the state PWD, inspected the area and proposed the construction of an alternative route. According to him, this would allow continuous work at the Kwarab conic zone without affecting vehicular movement, and the matter is under active consideration.
