Today, July 7th, Global Forgiveness Day is being celebrated worldwide. This day encourages people to forget past differences, grievances, and grudges and make a fresh start in relationships. Forgiveness is not only a moral virtue but also considered the key to mental peace and improved social relationships.
It is said that in 1994, CECA (Christ Embassy of Christ Ambassadors) in Victoria, British Columbia, initiated it as National Forgiveness Day. Later, as its popularity grew, it was transformed into Global Forgiveness Day. A separate Forgiveness Day is also celebrated in August by the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, but both aim to educate people about the importance of forgiveness and promote mutual harmony.
According to experts, forgiveness reduces mental stress and anger, while increasing trust and positivity in relationships. Several studies have also found that forgiving people are happier, healthier, and more mentally balanced.
Global Forgiveness Day reminds us that forgiveness, communication, and understanding are more important than ego in maintaining relationships. This day provides an opportunity to let go of past grievances and make a fresh start.
